Double dippers
Double the fun.
Inspired by the solo swim by Caroline Keating in 2020, the Great Ohio River Swim now hosts an elite "Double Dip” event, limited to 18 swimmers. Participants will swim 2.5 miles downstream, ending at the Public Landing, followed by the traditional 900-meter swim across the Ohio River and back. Double Dippers commit to raising funds for Adventure Crew to support its programs. They include a Swim Training Program, which provides urban youth with access to high quality swim lessons, water safety instruction and lifeguard certification.
The 2.5-mile course is down river. A boat shuttle will transport participants from the Public Landing up to the start. They will then swim back along the shoreline with the current to the Public Landing for the start of the 900-meter swim. Each Double Dipper is accompanied by a safety kayaker. A motorized safety boat follows the Double Dippers as well.
Interested Double Dippers must complete the application below and be approved before registering.
